So I have a new flatmate...and he can cook!!
After swearing off flatmates for life and nearly 6 months of enjoying my own company, It would seem that my days of roaming the house nude are temporarily over ~ I have caved for a friend in need of someplace to stay. He moved in on Saturday and I have adjusted surprisingly well, excepting the fact that during the first couple of hours he scared the bejesus out of me about 10 times...after a while by yourself you just dont expect someone to walk into the kitchen and say Hi while you're doing the dishes!! (yes, I was actually doing the dishes ~ I figured the place had to be somewhat presentable if someone else was coming to stay...probably a good thing otherwise who knows how long they would have remained in the sink!)
Other than a couple of scares and a broken glass while doing the dishes (this did result in some minor cuts and an hour spent on removing glass from my hand as I was holding the glass when it broke) I had a fab weekend ~ drank too much on Friday night (no surprises there), and again on Saturday afternoon at Zelko's birthday celebrations...That was kinda cool, caught up with a bunch of people I haven't seen in ages like Marsha, Zelko, Renee, Matt (had a good long yak to him which was good ~ 1st time i've been able to bring myself to actually have a conversation with him since i moved out and he seems to be at least trying to get his shit together ~ glad I left before he got too drunk though, that tends to be when he really says what he thinks and I'm not sure if my forgivness would stretch very far if i had to hear the excuses all over again. Caught up with TJ again too for the first time in aages ~ so long that I didn't recognise him and I actually introduced myself... How embarrassing!!! Imagine this "Hi, I'm Janelle ~ I dont know you" ... "Yes you do" ...Talk about OOPS!! I never imagined that someone getting rid of their long hair and gaotee could make so much difference to their appearance!!! (after that i was a little paranoid about introducing myself to anyone...)
Sunday was a bit of a chilled out day at Jordon's with Dad & Jarrod before checking out the Sydney Motor Show (I have decided that I want to ride a Vesper!!! well, I actually decided that last weekend while hanging out with Henry, but after checking out the scooters and bikes at the show yesterday, now i really really want to be running around on 2 wheels!!)
If you're going to darling Harbour anytime soon I fully recommend Jordon's!! My personal pick ~ Tasmanian scallops for an entree, baked salmon fillet with butter beans in white wine sauce for main and creme brulee for desert ~ Yummmmmmmm!

S'duhovima u glavi
This is my new favourite phrase, well for today anyway... It's Serbian for 'with ghosts in the head'. After having my identity stolen (ok, maybe that's a little dramatic) I've been having a bit of a crisis and so went in search of a new name ~ I figured something to do with multiple personalities could be cool and I happen to share an office with a Serb who was happy to help me out :) While I can't really see this becoming the new me (having to spell it out to people would piss me off mightily!) it is still very cool and it will defintely be filed for future reference.
I had the strangest dreams last night about shingleback lizards ~ these little critters have got to rank as one of the ugliest creatures around and I must confess, they freak me out! spiders, blue tongue lizards, snakes ~ no problem, but shinglebacks are just scary! The fact that its hard to pick which end is the head and which end is their butt probably has something to do with it, not to mention the armour plating they're covered with. these guys actually bury their head if they feel threatened and leave their tail sticking out to be attacked, then if anything actually does attack their tail they swing their head around and bite it.... ugh
Now I have a dilemma ~ I've gone searching for a link with a picture of a shingleback and I come across this pic of what is a genuinely cute lizard (perhaps they were just ugly and scary in my dream??) and now I feel bad for giving these guys such a bad rap... Though I also found this 'Aussie Lizards' page and got a giggle out of the 'legless lizard' ~can we say snake, people?~ It does say that the difference between the legless lizard and the snake is that the legless lizard doesn't have a forked tongue but after looking up snake in the dictionary and finding no mention of a forked tongue being a requirement, I stand by my call (snake: Any of numerous scaly, legless, sometimes venomous reptiles of the suborder Serpentes or Ophidia (order Squamata), having a long, tapering, cylindrical body)

Some people are just so hard to buy for!!!
Its Mat's birthday today so I got a bunch of people to chip in so we could buy him a Swans guernsey (since moving to Sydney he has transferred his AFL allegiance to our much beloved Swannies ~ Am I going to have to tranfer allegience to a Perth team when I get there???) and of course being the off season Sal and I wandered the streets of Sydney, and every sporting type store, for an hour or more without having any guernsey joy (unless you count finding a North Melbourne guernsey joy ~ and I dont). Thankfully the nice people at the Swans admin office (thanks Louise) agreed to organise one for me and have it couriered ~ YAY!
On the website front there is little improvement, though I have decided on self eductaion rather than help from friends...will keep you posted on that one.

It's official - I am a technological retard
In the interests of keeping in contact with all my friends in Sydney when I move to Perth, I am trying to set up my own website (keeping n contact is something that I am sometimes great at and sometimes crap at). After 2 hours and much research I have a website and a free FTP server
I figure, I got a good 2 months before the big shift takes place... surely thats plenty of time to get my site sorted????
Talk about being messed about by the cosmos! Today I have been set upon by coincidences surrounding on-line journals ~ hence, I am here.
A couple of months ago I signed onto live journal (with the best of intentions) and promptly forgot about it, which tends to happen with me - I have such a short attention span about some things... but today I decide that a good rant is in order and I return to live journal only to find that someone else is using my journal!!! I checked them about a bit and their registration date is about a week or 2 after I registered, so, operating on the assumption that the journal was not taken from me because I didn't use it - this person has somehow stolen my (completely unused I admit) journal. Now this in itself is kinda odd if you ask me and I decide to read what the journal thief has to say ... there are some bizarre coincidences in there, like we're the same age, have had our ankles screwed back together by surgeons who missed their calling as carpenters and we are planning on picking up our lives and moving it to some other city far far away. There are some major differences as well, like the fact that she claims to weigh around 110Kgs, she seems to have an obsession over "Him" and "Her", and describes her rage as a loaded gun... oh, and she's from Texas. Moving right along, I'm telling this to Bernard who promptly informs me that he has just today signed on to live journal (?) and so it seems are half the people I know! Except Tash, who is convinced that Blogger is Better (i think it's the slogan that got her) so here I am (the slogan is good...) ~ standing by my right to not have to think up a new name for myself!
